a quick shot of how advanced even the japanese phone booths are. even when i lived here back in 1999, the phone booths still had both phone-line jacks and CAT-5 jacks. i used to bring my laptop to the phonebooth and dial up my ISP via the phone jack to check my e-mail and chat with people back home. the slots above the jacks are for prepaid phone cards.
